IQ
THE BLACKMAGIC DESIGN DECKLINK SD {STANDARD DEFINITION CAPTURE
CARD}
THE COMPLETE BLACKMAGIC DESIGN
FAMILY OF PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE AT MIDTOWN VIDEO INC.
With 4 models to choose from, there is a
model available with the connectivity you need. Featuring the highest quality
10 bit uncompressed SDI connections, DeckLink cards are perfect for connecting
to high end decks such as Digital Betacam™, D1™ and DVCPRO® 50.

True 10 bit SDI
capture retains all the subtle detail in your images, even during multi
generation rendering and video processing. When using analog decks such as
Betacam SP™, DeckLink SP and DeckLink Extreme models feature analog component
YUV video and balanced analog audio, so you don’t need cumbersome external
converters.

All DeckLink cards
feature unbalanced AES digital audio out for incredible quality and sample
accurate AV sync. DeckLink unbalanced AES audio outputs are also compatible
with S/PDIF consumer audio, so you can use inexpensive HiFi equipment for audio
monitoring. DeckLink Pro™ includes 4 AES audio outputs for a massive 8 channels
of audio, great for mastering 8 channels to multi-track audio equipment. When
connecting to analog decks, DeckLink SP™ and DeckLink Extreme™ models include
analog XLR audio in and out connectors for direct analog deck connection. 8
channel SDI audio is supported, perfect for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound audio
work.

DeckLink cards can be
plugged into either Windows XP™ or Mac OS X™ systems. You can move DeckLink
cards between operating systems allowing you to constantly reconfigure your
facility as your needs change. On Windows XP™, DeckLink supports DirectShow™
for compatibility with most video software. For editing, DeckLink includes a
full suite of plug-ins for Adobe Premiere Pro™ including deck control. You can
even playback AVI, QuickTime™ and still frames files all on the same Premiere
Pro™ timeline and with multi-channel audio via our ASIO driver. DeckLink is a
world leader on Apple Mac OS X™ with QuickTime™ support for full compatibility
with all video software such as Apple Final Cut Pro HD™, Adobe After Effects™,
Shake™, DVD Studio Pro™, iDVD™, Combustion™ and many more.

With DeckLink’s open
standard design, you can use a wide range of video software. DeckLink is
compatible with QuickTime™ and DirectShow™ which means you can use any
QuickTime™ or DirectShow™ software. Unlike pre-built systems, with DeckLink you
can customize your system for different tasks. Use Final Cut Pro HD™ on Mac OS
X™ or Premiere Pro™ on Windows XP™ for editing. Use Adobe After Effects™ and
Photoshop™ for broadcast design and paint and then DVD authoring software to
give your clients a DVD of your work. The choice is yours.

DeckLink cards
support full 10 bit SDI uncompressed video capture and playback for better
quality than any other system - at any price. Ideal for Digital Betacam™ , D1™
and Panasonic DVCPRO® 50 decks, uncompressed 10 bit is the highest quality
possible from the SDI television system. The Blackmagic codec allows 16 bit RGB
per channel rendering preserving the quality of 10 bit video. Only 10 bit uncompressed
will hold up under the heavy working conditions demanded by clients today,
while still retaining that delicate film look.
When used with Mac OS X™ and Windows XP™
operating systems, you can select from the highest quality 10 bit uncompressed
and 8 bit uncompressed. When used on Mac OS X™, DeckLink includes support for
DV and JPEG compressed video formats. On Windows XP™, you can choose between
AVI and QuickTime™ file formats and even play back TARGA and BMP image
sequences in the Premiere Pro™ timeline without rendering.

No other card has
such wide support for various file formats and operating systems for cross
platform compatibility. DeckLink uncompressed QuickTime™ files can be freely
moved between Mac OS X™ and Windows XP™ systems.

When running on Mac
OS X™ all DeckLink cards feature our new full broadcast quality down
conversion, so you can instantly master HD edits to standard definition. Even
the base model DeckLink $295 card can play back uncompressed HD files and then
downconvert to standard definition. That's perfect when you’re working in HD
for future proof mastering, but you're delivering in standard definition. Down
conversion uses polyphase interpolation and filtering for incredible quality
with conversion at full 10 bit quality. Even DVCPRO HD multi-layer editing in
Final Cut Pro HD™ can be downconverted and played out on all DeckLink cards in
standard definition, making the transition to HD easier.

All DeckLink cards
include free software utilities developed to assist real world production
needs. All standard definition DeckLink models support keying so you can key
graphics over live input video in real time. Controlled by an application
called Blackmagic LiveKey™ it’s a snap to switch DeckLink into a keying card.
For broadcast graphics and paint we include Photoshop™ plug-ins for capture and
output of still frames. If you need DPX image sequences for DI workflow, the
new Blackmagic FrameLink™ lets you instantly access QuickTime and AVI media as
DPX files. Our famous Blackmagic Deck Control™ application lets you control a
deck remotely via RS-422. Capture and play clips to and from tape with timecode
accuracy, which is great for broadcast design. For easy disk array setup we
include Blackmagic Disk Speed Test™ for real world checking of your capture
disk, with speed results displayed in easy to understand video frames per
second. When moving media between systems, use our free Blackmagic Software
Codec for reading and rendering media, even when you don’t have DeckLink
hardware installed.
All DeckLink cards have the same powerful
features, with only the video and audio connections different between models.
There is a DeckLink model specifically designed with connectivity for different
types of broadcast decks, so you get only what you need at the most affordable
price.

The
original DeckLink has become world famous. Great for simple 10 bit SDI only
applications, it features SDI in and out, unbalanced AES output and RS-422
remote control with all connections on the rear of the card. The original
DeckLink model does not have genlock as it provides a stable SDI output for
locking decks to the card, eliminating the need for a black burst generator.

Ideal
for working with SDI equipment, such as Digital Betacam™ decks, while using
analog CRT monitors without an SDI input. DeckLink Pro has SDI input and
outputs, and also includes analog component YUV/NTSC/PAL switchable video-out,
great for video monitoring. DeckLink Pro also includes genlock input when
connecting to large broadcast systems as well as RS-422 remote control.
DeckLink Pro includes 4 x unbalanced AES outputs, so you can output 8 channels
of digital audio de-embedded from the SDI video output. All connections are on
a long 2 meter, 7 foot break out cable so you don’t need to purchase any extra
cables when building your editing system.

If
you're using older analog Betacam SP™ decks, then DeckLink SP is specifically
designed for that job. It features analog component YUV video input and output,
with analog balanced XLR audio. DeckLink SP also includes unbalanced AES out,
10 bit SDI output for digital mastering, genlock input and RS-422 control. All
connections are on a long 2 meter, 7 foot break out cable for a direct to deck
connection.

When
you need to connect to both digital SDI as well as analog component YUV decks,
you need a capture card that can handle both analog and digital connection in
and out. DeckLink Extreme is the ultimate standard definition card, because it
combines the analog component YUV/NTSC/PAL switchable video and analog XLR
audio in and out, along with digital 10 bit SDI inputs and outputs. Also
included is unbalanced AES output, genlock input and RS-422 deck control. All
connections are on a long 2 meter, 7 foot break out cable.
DeckLink cards have more features than any
other card available. Join one of the thousands of people who have chosen
DeckLink for complete creative freedom.
The DeckLink SD series now supports Sony Vegas 6™.

Latest Technology and Features
DeckLink
cards feature blazing speed 33/66 MHz PCI while retaining compatibility with
older 33 MHz PCI slots. Fast PCI 66 MHz keeps your system's PCI bus running
full speed. DeckLink Pro, SP and Extreme cards also include genlock input when
using with larger systems, and all DeckLink cards include RS-422 serial remote
so you won’t need extra serial port adapters for deck control.

Video Desktop
One of
the fun features of the DeckLink card is its video desktop. When not being used
for video capture and playback, DeckLink cards default to a fully featured
desktop display which outputs as video. Using the DeckLink SDI video output,
you can send any application window to the video output.

providing anything his clients want.

Real Time Effects with Final Cut Pro HD™
Many
exciting real time effects are included with the DeckLink. These include Cross
Dissolve, Non Additive Dissolve, Additive Dissolve, Fade in Fade out, Dip to
Color, Sepia, Desaturate, Brightness and Contrast, Proc Amp, Tint, Gamma
Correction and 3 way color correction. DeckLink cards are fully compatible with
Final Cut Pro HD™ RT Extreme built-in effects for unlimited possibilities.

Built-in Live Keying
DeckLink
cards can be switched to keying mode with the Blackmagic LiveKey application.
Key graphics over incoming video on all modes and in both high definition or
standard definition.

Free Software Codec
If
you're moving files between systems, and don’t have a DeckLink card installed,
then download our Blackmagic Software Codec. Our codec lets you open and render
files even without the DeckLink hardware installed. You can download it now
from our support page or pass it along to clients and freelancers so you can
integrate with a wider range of creative people.
All Cables Included Free
DeckLink
Pro™, DeckLink SP™ and DeckLink Extreme™ models have more video and audio
connectors than could ever fit on the back of a PCI card. Instead, we have
included them all on a long 7 foot or 2 meter breakout cable!

Now you
have all the high quality cables you need, and there’s nothing extra to
purchase.

NTSC and PAL Switchable
DeckLink
cards have been designed to instantly switch between NTSC as used in USA and
Japan, and PAL as used in Europe and Asia. SDI and analog connections switch
between NTSC and PAL with a simple change of your settings, and you can have
both NTSC and PAL media files on the same disk.

10 for 1 cost Advantage
DeckLink
cards and compatible software tools have direct competition creating much
better cost performance ratio. Software vendors of editing and design solutions
compete with each other, and work hard to increase features, and affordability.
Because you're not stuck with a complete system, and you can simply choose
which parts of the system you purchase, manufacturers are working hard to give
you more. This means you get much better quality and greater features at a much
lower system cost.

Frame Accurate
Editing
systems based on Final Cut Pro HD™ or Premiere Pro™ using DeckLink, may be
inexpensive but they're certainly professional. Editors demand frame accurate
batch capture and perfect AV sync! If you're conforming EDL’s or recapturing
for online finishing, DeckLink will allow frame accuracy so all of your edits
are always assembled correctly.

Flawless EDL Support
Like all
professional editing systems, Premiere Pro™ and Final Cut Pro HD™ work with
common EDL formats, so you can integrate with other systems. EDL’s are a great
way to move from older systems onto DeckLink based editing solutions for online
finishing.
